A Wild Few Months

So I know I've done it again, reappeared for a few seconds and then vanished. Again it's been work. I won't bore you with the details but I've just left a job and now I've got a new one in the banking sector, where I always wanted to be. So now I'm a banking consultant which basically means I do things like home leanding and personal loans etc. so that's exciting. Sorry for the absences and also I must say I don't think things are likely to improve as I'll be living in two different cities now. But I'll pop in as much as I can.

Maccas and Murder

Currently enjoying a Sausage and Egg McMuffin from Maccas while I prepare for the events of the weekend. Unfortunately no Simming for me. I've got a murder to plan.

Hosting my second annual murder mystery party. I don't buy those pre-made ox ones I just write my own. That way I can personalise the characters to my friends. Ah such fun! Killing ones friends! It's just like sims, you give them names, tell them what to wear, you develop their personalities and then you decide how to kill them! Brilliant.

Simming Again... At Last!

Just Keep Simming...

Okay Simmerverse, Come at Me! Being that I played the Sims 3 for so long and that even after getting Sims 4 some time ago I still kept playing 3 it is quite difficult to adjust. I always revert back to my Sims 3 ways. Especially is this true when in build mode. I am a builder at heart when it comes to the Sims, let me tell you why:

In her youth my sister played with her dolls in her beautiful dollhouse, it looked like a miniature colonial mansion except that the entire facade of the house opened up. It had working lights and everything. Now whilst my sister loved her dolls, I loved the house. It fascinated me. Of course I couldn't play with it, it was my sisters and therefore off limits, but on her generous days I was allowed to look at it. I remember questioning the practicality of a house that lacked any purposeful hallways. You had to walk through the dining room to get to the bedroom. Not very sensible, but of course the nature of such doll's houses is impracticality.

Another hobby was that I would take cardboard and sellotape and make small houses with working doors. Perfecting a sliding door from card was my ultimate triumph.Sellotape for glass. Red crayola for brickwork. Once in high school for a project I made an entire Roman Bath from my sisters GHD hair straightener's box (Unfortunately I relied too heavily on the build and not enough on the essay and was sadly marked down). Given this childhood penchant it seems sad that I didn't pursue the idea of becoming an architect.

Even further to this theme my mother made much of her money flipping houses. Sarah Beeny's property ladder was a staple of our TV viewing diet. We thought ourselves very clever when we predicted which design flaws Sarah would single out. Thus my house design passions were reinforced again.

Thus Sims has proven to be the ultimate outlet for such passions. I can build and dream and create or recreate. Project One: Downton Abbey a.k.a. Highclere Castle.

The great tragedy of Sims 4 is the limitations put upon the build system. While some features are wonderful I shall always miss CAST. Now one must simply make do with the presented colour options. Also it feels like its much easier to build something stock standard, but far harder to build something individual, something quirky. While not impossible it will be my challenge to learn the work arounds that allow creativity to flow. So while I continue with this learning experience, wish me luck, for I shall need it.

New blog? Maybe not.

To Blog or Not To Blog

That is the question.

You see I'm going through something of a Simming rebirth and I'm just wondering if this blog is worth keeping or if I should start again? Same question for my YouTube account.

As far as YouTube is concerned my content on there is currently not that great, I remember thinking it was at the time but now I've really had a change of heart. So I'm tempted to rebrand it and delete all my content and just start again.

Back to the blogging though, I considered starting a new one but then it's so hard to get established and I was lucky that this one even was popular for as long as it was. And although it's lost its spark I think this one is worth keeping, or at least it's not worth starting a new one.

Is anyone even reading this anymore, I think not, but I'm grateful for a place to articulate my thought process.

Guess What I'm Playing?

Look who is actually playing this game again?

Sorry for the poor photography I just snapped it on my iPad. By the way how does blogger not have an app? It's so clunky to type up posts on this thing. Meanwhile this isn't my new computer just playing it on the laptop ugh it's a nightmare. So much lag.

My New Computer

Still a few weeks before I get it as I need to travel to pick it up but here's the rundown:

ATX case with 2 x 120mm fans
500watt FSP Hydro PSU
Gigabyte B150M Motherboard
Intel Core I7 7700 CPU, 3.6ghz x 4, 4.2ghz turbo, Hyperthreading
16gb Kingston Hyper X 2400mhz DDR4 Ram
Geforce GTX1070 8gb DDR5 Graphics Card
1tb SATA3 Hard Drive

240gb SSD
24" Viewsonic 1ms response, Full HD LED monitor

Not the most ferocious beast out there but a pretty decent system. Can't wait to take it for a drive.

A Simsplanation

Dear Reader,

If it seems to have been a while since my last post you'd be right, and if it also seems to be an eternity since I posted any content actually worth reading you'd be two for two.

The primary reason is I don't really game anymore. My laptop isn't really for gaming and my gaming computer has been outdated for a while now, haven't even turned it on for the last few months. Everything I do on my phone or tablet these days. Real life has been pretty packed. Work is crazy, I do administration for British Petroleum better known by its initials BP. Socially things have been pretty good, in recent years I've really come into my own. Last November I hosted a great Gatsby themed ball which I consider among my greater social achievements.

The Gatsby Ball November 2016

But all of this adds to a life that has little room for blogging and gaming. But that is all set to change!
I'm currently having a new gaming system built, nothing too insane but still a fairly powerful beast. Once it's arrived I plan on diving right back in. I have in mind to get back into building, always my favourite part of Simming. I have already done some CC for Sims 4 but I don't think that's the path for me really, same with machinima, I did one in Sims 4 but it's not really what I want to do. I'm planning on doing speed building videos and seeing if anyone is much interested, I may start a new YouTube channel and maybe even eventually a new blog, While the SimRomanov days were fun and I had moderate success I think I've let it die somewhat and it's time to break with the past and start a new, though don't hold me to this I may change my mind. Whether or not my future Simming endeavours prove successful though at least I'll have some fun.

Happy Simming,
SR

P.S. So I've spent the last little while trying to catch up with the Sims world via old TMN (which by the way is so reassuring to see is still going and still looks the same, Lady Grantham will be pleased)
I can't help but smile to know that MadameLee is still around to provide a good laugh. What a Simblr  or a Dumblr is I couldn't tell you. I feel like an old man who doesn't know where the start button is. Wish me luck, I'm sure I'll get there.

If anyone actually reads this, bless your little cottonsocks.
