So far, it would seem the entire pack revolves around two things,
1st- 4 New Skills/Careers and 2nd- Online Features.
-The 4 New Skills/Careers-
DJ: This seems strangely close to 'Mixologist' (from Late Night) in the way it works, just replace the bar with a booth, and different animations. Still this looks good.
Magician: This one looks quite good, Nothing much to say really other than that it looks like a lot of fun.
Performer: Of the few features of this careers seen so far it looks good, and assuming its more than just fire rings and ball balancing, then I approve.
Singing: This looks excellent, what looks like karaoke and also the animations of the singers, just excellent. Hopefully they have made it so that a singer can join a band.
-The Online Features-
These include Simport and the expanded sharing of in game achievements (Expansion of the 'memories' system introduced with generations).
These features appear to be the kind that most of us simmers will use once and then forget about.
The notion that our sims can travel between simmers games, while our sims can't travel between neighborhoods within our own games is stupid. A more suitable function of something with the name Simport, should have been the inter-neighborhood travel.
The 4 New Skills/Careers while individually good all belonged in Late Night in the first place, and an expansion pack cannot be built around 4 things that are not overly unique and would be better suited as added features in a patch for Late Night.
The Online functions are, in my opinion, silly and will be used only once before the novelty wears off.
This EP can only be redeemed now, if it turns out to have a well created slow dancing interaction. Likelihood of this happening = 4/4600
One needs only open a newspaper or turn on the TV to see these words, as a testament to commercialism, Christmas begins in November and ends with the "Post-Post Christmas Sales" in February.
Such is the nature of all major holidays, for me the only benefit of Christmas is the fact that on the 25th there are no ads on television (at least in my country). Ironic, perhaps they have no ads so that everyone has time to reflect how long it will take to pay off the credit card, before being targeted again in the after Christmas sales.
Some may try to defend the so-called "Spirit of Christmas", but the fact is most, if not all people on Christmas expect to get presents, a holiday built on the obligation to give presents.
As with all gifts it is the thought that counts, but with Christmas the "thought" is one forced by obligation rather than a genuine gift, which I believe should be done without expectation of getting a gift back, or because the millionaires who own 50% of the businesses in your area want you to.
Of Course this is just my opinion, but I think its an opinion worth having... or else I wouldn't have it.
Pets is released over here on the 21st of October, Funnily enough when using Google to try and confirm this as the release date of pets, it also happens to be the End of the world, well according to Harold Camping anyway, though If one was to believe every word of his, then earth should have been burning since May...
After his failed prediction regarding May 21, 2011 being the beginning of the Apocalypse, which would have finally ended on October 21, 2011, Mr Camping went on to insist that despite the May Mishap. October will still be the end of the world. While I am not against the idea of the End Of The World, I'm against the idea that Mr. Camping knows when it is...
And so, with this prediction from Mr. Camping in mind, I have faith in one thing...
That on October 22nd I Shall Be Enjoying Pets.
Just an After thought... Is the UK release countdown over at Simprograms a countdown to the End of The World?
For those without good taste when it comes to Children's Entertainment, Tin Tin is
a comic (which I never read unfortunately) that became a TV series (which I loved).
It's about Tin Tin and his dog and they solved mysteries, comparable to Nancy Drew
or the Hardy boys (Never heard of those?...impossible). Tin Tin is a classic, and most noteworthy is his hair, it has a trademark style which is best understood by looking at the picture. ( I have attempted making the hairstyle for sims 3...will upload later maybe)
This brings me to the reason for the post...
There is going to be a Tin Tin Movie! (in 3D naturally)
But that's not all, there will be 3 Tin Tin movies!
But wait there's more...The movies will be directed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.
But It doesn't stop there...There will also be a Tin Tin game!
But Wait... funnily enough, The game is called Secret of the Unicorn (Petslol)
But that is because the ship around which the game and first movie are mainly set is called the Unicorn I believe. December release for the first film.
Hmm, I'd say a large majority and as I hear it, all the content (and save files) go missing.
"we have been working diligently"
And I am a purple flying elephant.
Funny, again as I hear it, the content actually is uninstalled, are you implying it's some kind of illusion?
"follow these steps each time"
Well that sounds fun, the demo is a bit of a "Da Vinci Code" with all these steps isn't it?
"If YOU have deleted your downloads"
I put the 'YOU' in capitals to emphasize the fact that they are blaming the user, I understand that step applies if the user did actually delete their content, but in this case it was EA's fault that the content was uninstalled, so the user may have deleted them, but it has been said in such a way that makes it sound like it was their fault, that they shouldn't have deleted them
(Which ,once installed, it was perfectly fine to do) .
"free of charge"
I suppose it makes sense to clarify that, but it sounds almost like they make it seem as if it a favor on their part that you can download what you already paid for.
"apologies for any inconvenience"
I detect 'Couriervaughan' levels of sincerity
"we...appreciate...feedback, so please, keep it coming"
If you really appreciated it you wouldn't lock the thread where we can tell you direct to your avatar our "feedback" but seen as you said please I decided to blog it instead.
Now I click the login button, then what happens, one expects to be directed to a login page.
Well If that was your guess then you were wrong, rather I get directed to Origin, Pets Demo Download, I kid you not, I clicked "login" most definitely, not the ad on the opposite side, but "login" and it took me to Origin.
I figure it must be linked with the ad on the other side because they link to the exact same place.
Has anyone else had this happen, I had it happen twice, but have not been able to replicate it since.
Perhaps my web page wasn't full loaded, or Maybe EA is as devious as they seem and purposely linked it, either way this Pets thing is super annoying, but you know whats most annoying...
In the world of sims magazines SF Magazine is one of the leaders if not the leading magazine. I read a lot of Sims magazines, hoping to find cc that doesn't get picked up by the big cc listing sites. But the magazines are also full of cc that do get featured on the big sites too. But the best thing about them in my opinion is the creativity of the writers, some of the screenshots, particularly those of houses or design ideas are amazing.
This is all well and good but the main reason I mention this particular Issue is because some of my cc was featured in it, and it has actually sent a few visitors here. The cc in question was the collection ofchandeliers I made back in June. So this post is to say a thank you to SF Mag (even though they probably won't read this) and this post is also to express my happiness at being in SF Magazine.
First I had to download Origin, then it kept sending me in circles trying to start the download. Then the download stagnates at 7.08% but it turns out it was a godsend because there have been no end of reports on the Demo deleting files, removing save games, even backups somehow failing. However EA has I suppose got what they wanted, because now everyone will be talking about the pets demo, just not in the way they would have wanted.
The Sims World seems rather dull, perhaps It's just me, but The forums (which I am mostly only a lurker in) seem to be boring, and frighteningly on topic. I'm not saying I want off topic, just a little more interest, rather than the long stream of people competing for attention for their uploads (some of which are good I must say). I haven't posted in quite some time because I have nothing much of interest to post. I must be bored, I mean look at the border I made using space and the highlighter...A desperate plea for help if ever I saw one. LOL.
